Do not apologise for being new

A first CV should show potential and evidence, not repeatedly announce the absence of formal employment.

Use education and projects

Coursework, practical projects, societies and competitions can demonstrate organisation, communication, technical ability and initiative.

Include volunteering and responsibilities

Community work, caring responsibilities, clubs and informal work can contain relevant evidence when described accurately.

Make skills concrete

Connect each important skill to something you have actually done. Specific examples are more persuasive than a long list of adjectives.
